Mexico Resorts: Iberostar Cozumel

The Iberostar Cozumel, as the name suggests, is located on the island of Cozumel. This resort complex has 306 rooms that are located in one- and two-story bungalow-style buildings. The landscaping at this resort is excellent and there are many tropical gardens for visitors and children to get lost in during their Mexico vacations.

The Iberostar brand is Spanish and the company owns many resort properties worldwide. Some of the features the Iberostar Cozumel has that appeal to both children and parents are the tropical gardens that have lizards, birds, iguanas, and peacocks; a children's playground and a pool complex consisting of a kid's pool and a large "lake pool." There are also specialty programs for kids such as a disco for kids and various types of games that they can participate in while being supervised by resort staff. Some activities that may appeal to adults and older children include dance lessons, water polo, Spanish lessons, windsurfing and archery. Guests can also take advantage of a one-tank scuba dive with a seven-day stay at the resort.

Mexico Resorts: Xpu Ha Palace

The Xpu Ha Palace offers its guests something slightly more different from the standard beach resort in Mexico. Make no mistake, this is a beach resort, but its setting and landscaping suggest tropical hideaway.

The resort sits on a large "eco park" and guests here stay at bungalows that have thatched roofs. There are 464 of these bungalow units at Xpu Ha Palace.

Some of the features and amenities of the Xpu Ha Palace include two zero-entry swimming pools, a cove in which guests can snorkel and the Eco Park that has many different types of animals including crocodiles, turtles, monkeys and flamingoes. Don't worry, the animals in the park are safely located away from any of the bungalows. The park is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and there are many friendly eco guides to help you while visiting.

For guests who want to venture out into the sea, there are many water sports activities and there is even an underground cave that houses a fresh water river on the Palace grounds. Guests can follow the river by either snorkeling or by kayaking out into a lagoon, where you may see all sorts of marine wildlife including a manatee. The Xpu Ha Palace is for travelers that do not want to experience the typical large marble-style resort and want something more outdoor friendly.

There are so many resorts located in Mexico that they often sit right up against each other. This presents a whole host of problems, most of which deal with noise. Be sure that when you book your stay that you request a room or bungalow that is not too close to a neighboring resort. You do not want to spend your travel to Mexico complaining about the loud disco next door.
