What to Do in Boston

Boston is the original city of adventure and defiance based on moral principle. If a Boston accent doesn't alert you to the fact that people in the region made a decision to do things differently, I don't know what will. As America became its own nation, one has to agree that it might not have been possible without the spirit that dwells deep within the people of Boston. And though such spirited revolution took place over 200 years ago, the same spirit fuels the contemporary metropolitan city through a continuous revolution of philosophy -- and of course, the Boston Red Sox vs. the New York Yankees!

Things to Do in Boston

When planning a trip to New England, so many things are available to experience that you would need a several weeks to see a portion of it. If you want to see it all, well... have you considered moving there? Despite all of the fun things to do on a Boston travel adventure, there are undoubtedly a few sites that simply cannot be missed. Consider a few of these ideas to get your wheels turning, and when you find something you like, you can "pahk the cah roun' tha cohner" and do something "wicked smaht."

Boston Museums

You'll find several amazing museums in the city of Boston, where you can spend an entire day: The Children's Museum, the Museum of Science, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and Boston's Museum of Fine Arts are just a few choices.

If you're traveling with children, The Children's Museum is the perfect way to introduce a child to museums. It offers an environment that is geared towards a child's interests and attention span. Children, as well as adults, will also enjoy the Museum of Science, where you can do more than admire the exhibits visually -- hands-on learning is often required.

If you're vacationing or visiting Boston with a significant other, there are two more museums that are wonderful for day-dates: the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and Boston's Museum of Fine Arts. Both museums offer a living history through fine arts and historical artifacts. At your own leisure, you can view works created by some of the contemporary world's artistic masters. Trips to the museum can be the sure-fire way to entertain yourself when you are looking at how to do Boston on a budget.

Catch a Boston Sporting Event

It doesn't matter what time of year you're in this colonial city, you can arrange your seasonal calendar to the Boston area sports schedule. There's nothing quite like enjoying a beer and a dog at Fenway Park, and the Green Monster is something that every baseball fan should behold at least once in their lifetime. If you're a basketball fan, the Boston Celtics have made some recent acquisitions that will make the "new" Garden the hottest ticket in town. And even if you have no interest in the game, the fans are so entertaining that the whole event is worth the price of admission. If you love hockey, you've got the Bruins and if it's football, it's Tom Brady and the Patriots. As promised -- year round activity.

Unique Boston Activities

When you're in Boston, you won't have to try to find the "history" in town. It's everywhere you go. Secure a last minute cheap flight to Boston, and you'll also have no problem finding tours that take you to various places, shopping centers and Boston landmarks. Shopping, fine restaurants, Irish pubs and English pubs -- you'll find them to be at arms length, wherever you happen to be in the city.

For a little intellectual-enrichment, leave your Boston hotel and hop on over to a little university known as Harvard to attend one of the many lectures or Q & A's they offer year-round. The world's most prominent figures and speakers come to this world-renown academic university to share thoughts, new philosophies and to answer questions from their audiences. Events like this will cost you nothing more than an open mind and bit of your time, and it will lay a stamp of unique validation on your trip to Bean Town.
