Gothenburg has always been a seafaring city, and what the sea has meant for the city is something you can learn about at Sjöfartsmuseet. Here you will find models of ships from the 17th century until the present day, an exhibition of figureheads (many of them from shipwrecked ships), and maps and models of the harbor. Next to the museum stands a tower with a statue of the waiting wife of a sailor. From there, you have a great view of the harbor entrance. To get here, take trams 3, 4 or 9 to Stigbergstorget.
