A great travel destination. A very large town with much to do & see from the Cliff divers in Traditional/OLD Acapulco to the Diamond Zone where the princess & mayan palace are located to the Gold Zone in between where much of the nightlife & restaurants are located Acapulco is still very beautiful travel destination if a bit rustic... ... Still a wonderful getaway

Acapulco has changed some over 20 + years but the weather & view of the bay is still absolutely the most beautiful I have ever seen. There are many nice affordable hotels for less then 100 USD per night & 100's of affordable restaurants in town that offer authentic mexican dishes & fresh seafood . The Bay is cleaner today then from 20 years ago & the main drag while not prestine by any means is not strewn with garbage as others reporting here would have you believe. We went to Acapulco 10 years ago for our honeymoon, and we both vowed never to return again. I have never felt so unsafe in all my life ... "don't go on the beach at night because of the bandidos ... stay on the main drag because it's dangerous otherwise ... security trucks driving around with men and automatic weapons ... begging is horrible .... Ignore the whiney Gringos! Acapulco is GREAT!

It upsets me to see so many harsh criticisms of Acapulco. Sure it is now big and noisy and it is not for everyone. But it is Acapulco and as such the greatest tourist spot in Mexico, one of the greatest in the world! I have been in Acapulco at least a dozen times in the past 25 years and NEVER have I been offered "jewels, drugs or prostitutes" so I have no idea what these Gringos are doing or where they are doing it, who report all the terrible goings on, but me - never seen it!
