Do you just want to get away from it all on vacation and escape the heat and humidity lets say in August and also feel like you have went back in time to a more simple life. Enjoy scenic vistas, blue waters, and trees like none other. An absolute attitude adjustment that is so inspiring that you want to come back again and again which I have done. Nothing is quite like this because are so unique, lets keep this a secret, simply said the Adirondacks are the Adirondacks and nothing else compares to this region. Lake Placid is so interesting and beautiful, Lake Saranac is an All American town, the Lake Champlain and Lake George areas are gourgeous, but the Central Adirondacks are the best part here. Towns like Old Forge, Inlet, Indian Lake, and Blue Mountain Lake are recommended. At the top of the list is Long Lake, Schroon Lake, Tupper Lake, Star Lake, and Loon Lake which are outstanding. My favorite is Long Lake which is about 50 miles southwest of Lake Placid. For sheer relaxation this gets 5 star recommendation. If you love the mountains, this is it, don't delay your plans.

2.No place like it in the world.
I grew up just south of the Adirondacks and from 15 on spent many long weekends camping, canoeing and exploring these great mountains. Throughout my life I've lived in and visited over 26 countries and so far I have found nothing more beautiful than the Adirondacks. Four years ago I bought a home on the Saranac chain of lakes and spend as much time as I can in the region. I highly recommend you experience the beauty and fun of the Adirondacks. A few places to look at would be Lake Placid home of the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Games. A small town with an international atmosphere, great restaurants and plenty to do. Just 8 miles away is Saranac Lake which is more laid back and also has a great old Adirondack hotel the Saranac Inn. Day trips by car will give you some great views and adventures. About 20 miles from Lake Placid is White Face Mountain, one of the northeast’s best ski locations. During the summer you can drive to the top of the mountain for a view you will never forget. If you’re looking for rentals of homes (they are called camps in the Adirondacks) check out adirondackbyowner.com for a hidden mountain getaway or waterfront camp. Six million acres of wilderness and small towns, thousands of lakes and friendly people has always sounded like paradise to me.

3.Adirondack Mountains greta place to visit
I lived in the foothills of the Adirondacks all my life. There is plenty to do all year long! If you plan to visit, just plan right. pick a town near the notrhway (I-87). That way you can go on day trips to various places. Lake George has plenty of entertainment, outdoor activities, shopping and arts. Many small towns are that, small. Just check out the size of the town, know whats available. I live in a town with 2 gas stations, a pharmacy, a small grocery store and no fast food. The population... More

I recently moved from there in 2006, to of all places Wyoming, the population of the town I live in now 8714.
