Check out some local restaurants for Mexican food. Some parts of town are best avoided after dark(sorry to say). U of NM is there.
Drive outside city for beautiful scenery and take the time to visit Santa Fe.

Good southwest food!

I was in Albuquerque in April and despite the description in the travel guide of it being a temperate climate the weather can be unpredictable and I was surprised at hold cold it was (it snowed while I was there) so if you're expecting a warm desert destination in the winter I wouldn't go here. It must have to do with the altitude as its pretty far south on the map. Beautiful Views on Sandia Peak

One of the most wonderful things do do in Albuquerque is to take the tram up to Sandia Peak for a massive panoramic view of the Albuquerque valley. The best time to visit is near dusk so you can see the sunset in spring/summer. And grab dinner (make reservations) at the High Finanance Restaurant at the summit. You won't be disappointed.
