I was in Albuquerque in April and despite the description in the travel guide of it being a temperate climate the weather can be unpredictable and I was surprised at hold cold it was (it snowed while I was there) so if you're expecting a warm desert destination in the winter I wouldn't go here. It must have to do with the altitude as its pretty far south on the map. I had some good southwestern food while I was there (lots of chilies) and took an interesting walk along the mighty Rio Grande (tongue in cheek - the river is little more than a creek. I was shocked at how small it is). Albuquerque is cool to fly into, its kinda nestled between two mountain ranges so the view of the topography from the air is memorable. Also, a good side trip is Sante Fe, which is a couple hours due north and a steady climb to an even higher altitude. Oh, and for fans of Bugs Bunny cartoons, I did see a Road Runner. Apparently they are quite prevalent there.
