Alexandria...Ancient beauty, on the shores of the Mediteranean 
I toured the entire length of the Nile, as well as Cairo & Alexandria.  Alexandria was my absolute favorite...a lovely city, on the shores of the blue Mediteranean !  Clean, clear air, (unlike Cairo); museums; a gorgeous palace; friendly, warm people...a unique blend of the old & the new !!  Cairo was GREAT for Egypt's main tourist attractions, but has awful air pollution, traffic congestion & over-crowding.  Alexandria, on the other hand, was simply magnificant....with none of the problems of Cairo.  I'd definitely return there, if I wanted to spend any amount of time in one place !!!
