As newly married students from Atlanta, we visited the park for a long weekend. Memories were the canoeing, locally made rasberry jam with breakfast at the lodge dining room, tipping over in the canoe when beaching it, brief walk in the forest across the lake from the park lodge. Probably the most relaxing and sereen holiday (the 4th of July, 1963) ever! Having been reminded by this article I would love to take it all in again for a week or two. Canada is probably my most favorite destination

I camped there years back. After a 2 hour portage and canoe ride we found an available campsite. It was an island. This truly is heaven! There are wonderful books you can get including artist Tom Thompson and his life and love of Algonquin Park. Alot of his paintings

I have been going to Algonquin Park since going to camp there as a child. IT IS ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. Take the trip up the Opeongo and then turn right. A week of wilderness and beauty. The best was coming down Dickson Lake, stopping at the high island in the middle. Climbing to the top, we found blueberry bushes and wild mint. SO, we camped, made blueberry muffins and had mint tea- all complements of "the house". absolutely wonderful.
