Flew from Los Angeles to DFWhooked up with relatives then took auto trip to Colorado Springs and stayed overnight in Amarillo (just one night). Stayed in a Rodeway Inn. Impression of Amarillo was that of a dry dusty high plains/semi-desert mini-city but still nice and cool at night (being early June). Windy when we first arrived in town but winds died down by evening. Saw a gorgeous sunset. Lots of Cowboy activity and cattle business. Noticed lots of wide open spaces and appearances of low-priced real estate (especially compared to Southern Calif)! :>) Also noticed lots of red-clay landscaping. Even though it town was flat could see hill formations off in distance.
