We went as a family of 5 about 3 years ago. We did not know much about the island but fell in love with it quickly. Not overly built up with retail. Quiet, clean beaches, great food (loved BE A PIG bar-b-q). Fort Clinch as nice to see and same with the rest of the island.

Rejoice that it is still around and thriving

Went in the early "70's. Rented a seaside condo multi-level. Gorgeous views of ocean as mirrored living room gave views no matter where seated. Played wonderful golf. Great buffet at Amelia Island Inn and a side trip to 1876 steak house in Fernandino Beach and took ferry to Jacksonville to dinner. Hope it is still great

Quiet, private, great car show venue annually "next door", uninspiring beach, (a "island" by technical definition only. The brige crosses a salt marsh so don't expect to be miles at sea)great weather in late fall through late spring, summer is hot and humid but it IS Florida, upscale property that is not too large, not too many kids (yet), easy access to Jacksonville airport with increasing non-stops to avoid Atlanta. (I did not know that was possible until trip to Jacksonville.) Great staff.
