The country is beautiful the people friendly and interesting the culture unique the food delicious the seas surrounding 3 coasts beautiful and you can't beat the sightseeing. I love Turkiye. Try the night lift in Istanbul for fun and the underground cities and fairy castles in Cappadocia for contrast. You'll be amazed at Pumakale's mineral deposits and spa hotels. Best tour company for the money is Pacha Tours out of NYC. Will go back again in person but I'm there in my dreams.... More

Ankara is one of the safest and most interesting places I have been to. I was there for business for about 3 weeks. Like other places in Turkey Ankara's biggest asset is people. Turkish people are the friendliest kindest people in the world. I have been to many places in the world no other nation can surpass the friendliness of the people of Turkey. Turkish people are the friendliest kindest people in the world. I have been to many places in the world no other nation can surpass the friendliness of the people of Turkey. Ankara to my surprise had a lot of history. Lots of historic places to visit dating all the way from pre-Romans Romans to Ottomans. The City offers great areas to shop open bazaars modern shopping malls and outdoor cafes and dining areas. Everything is very inexpensive. One should definitely visit the open bazaar in Ulus and more modern shopping areas in Kizilay. And yes they do have Starbucks and McDonalds if you look for something familiar. Ataturk's Mausoleum Anitkabir is a great place to visit not only to pay respects to this great visionary but also to witness how even so many years after his death this great man lives in the hearts and souls of Turkish people.

I lived there for 2 years and think that it is the safest place I have evr lived and shopped.. I felt safer there than in my own country. If you are into shopping make sure you make it up to ULUS shopping area.. It offers all different kinds of alleys to include but not limited to gold copper furniture carpets crystal and so forth. But for reall shopping make sure you try downtown on Ataturk Blvd. When I was there food transportation lodging was very cheap... However to really make a difference threat the folks there like you would want to be treated... It will make a big difference... Oh did I mention that there is also outdoor pazzars where you can get everything from food staples to fruits and most anything you need for the home.. By the way if you do going shopping there and dont have the room to carry it all with you there is plenty of help there that will help you carry it as well as deliver it directly to where you are staying..
