A Gem of the world.

In the midst of 5 volcanoes, Arequipa is truly a wonderful surprise. Remote,but very chic, and sophisticated. Architecture, food, and art galleries are integral part of this city. Caveat, hurry, it may be struck any time by earthquakes.

La Republica Independiente de Arequipa

Arequipa, La ciudad Blanca, lies on the lap of the Misti vocano. It is a colonial city with beautiful Spanish architecture and "proud" Spanish Royalty decendent inhabitants. Arequipa survived several strong earthquakes. There are many municipal buildings and churches that are worth the trip!
