This museum is located in the historic sector of the city centre, La Candelaria. The colonial-style house was the residence of the first creole to ever receive an aristocratic title by the Spanish crown (1787). This is the reason why it is known as Casa del Marques de San Jorge. Banco Popular bought the house at the beginning of 1970s and restored it into a museum. It has an impressive display of pre-Columbian ceramics and ancient textiles, as well as a number of objects dating back to colonial times.
