Made up of 33 islands, Phuket covers an area of 570 square kilometers (354 square miles) and has a population of about 322,000 residents. Phuket Island, the largest, is linked to the mainland by a bridge. The country's main source of income is tourism, though agriculture also plays a key role. One of my friends was there during the tsunami he was lucky to escape and he has given me a vivid idea of what the tsunami was. I stayed in the Amanpuri hotel which has clear waters and amazing wildlife. The many white beaches there are many activities such as banana boating motor boating and paragliding. On a cruise around the island I saw the many cliffs and mountains which are great for climbing. All in all it is the best place for family vacations.
