Athens is a high priority destination. 
I am pleased with the reviews presented.  They are overwhelmingly favorable, and I have little to add.  In any country you visit be polite, appreciative and patient.  Learn a dozen useful words :  a respectful salutation, please, thank you, yes, no, where is ... ?  How much is it ?  the subway, the toilet, a physician, the bill ( please), etc.  Read a guidebook you like ahead of time, plan what you're going to do and take the guidebook and a map with you.   SMILE genuinely, and you'll have a great time !   I liked Athens.
