The sights were wonderful. People warm & friendly. English was spoken by many some well some not so well, but still better then my Mandarin. Enjoyed people in Temple of Heaven park. Great city; but expect difficulties.

Cultural aspects are great. Smog and spitting in public is prevalent. Language is a major issue, and cabs are the most difficult. Always get the name of the place you are going to and your hotel written in Chinese. Most times, that didn't even help, and we had to have our destinations circled on a map. We stayed in hostels for $12.oo, and the young people there seemed to know more English than the bigger hotel staffs. Food is fine and cheap, but you won't find eggs or pancakes for breakf ... I found it to be dirty and polluted.

Worst air pollution I ever experienced. My eyes itched and my skin broke out in a rash from the heat. I cannot imagine holding the Summer Olympics there. Our tour was heavily managed and controlled. It certainly kept us away from the commoners and sweat shops. ... Read Full Review | Report This

Beautiful

We spent time in Beijng and Guangzhou and loved it. People were so kind everywhere we went. We were treated better by service people there than here in the US that is for sure! You didn't get that " you expect me to do my job?" attitude from the employees like you do here. The Great Wall of China is breathtaking! I would love to go back someday. ...
