I found it to be dirty and polluted. 
Worst air pollution I ever experienced.  My eyes itched and my skin broke out in a rash from the heat.  I cannot imagine holding the Summer Olympics there.  Our tour was heavily managed and controlled.  It certainly kept us away from the commoners and sweat shops.
