Yes, it was pricey, but if you are not seeking a budget hotel, this would be my first choice in Berlin. We have stayed in most of the other 4 and 5 star Berlin hotels as we are there several times a year. The new Ritz is my favorite. There is a small mall right across the street which is great for some shopping....they have a supermarket and drug stores and cafes, along with some retail stores. At Christmas time, there is a Christmas market there too. The hotel location is right by the new Sony Center and a 5 minute walk to the Brandenburg Gate. If I have any criticism, it would be that for such an upscale place they should have large flat screen TVs in the rooms. Still had the old fashioned kind. Other than that, service, ambience, location and luxury were all top notch.
