While in Bocas del Toro my husband and I found ourselves spending many nights at Toro Loco. It's a bar/restaurant just off main street behind the park. They offer free Wifi which was great darts and they even had five televisions that we could catch sports on all day! They've got really good bar food including burgers! Plus you get free popcorn all day. It's a place to check out while you're in town.... More

My husband and I have lived in Panama almost 2 years now. Prior to our retiring here we had visited Panama several times and each trip we included Bocas Town. It's an amazing town full of local restaurants B&B's hotels etc. It is a very small town but is full of Panamanian pride. My husband and I have lived in Panama almost 2 years now. Prior to our retiring here we had visited Panama several times and each trip we included Bocas Town. It's an amazing town full of local restaurants B&B's hotels etc. It is a very small town but is full of Panamanian pride. Bocas is more "rustic" than Panama City and you might want to be a little adventurous to go there. The humidity is high and then temps very warm. The best time to go is between Jan-April and August until about Oct. (out of the rainy season).Water taxis are reasonable and take you any to the other islands located near Bocas. I would highly recommend staying at "Cocomo on the Sea" B&B. Your graceful host Doug makes it a point to meet you and a lovely breakfast served on the ocean deck is sure to please. Get the rooms facing the ocean and listen to waves as they lap against the shore! You are within walking distance of the village and can see all the local crafters and their artisan wares. Bocas is a magical place and don't go if you want a modern resort. New hotels are there and great restaurants but this is NOT a resorty town. Very peaceful and safe. You can rent a scooter for the day and go to Bocas del Drago on the end of the island. Not much there but the ride is beautiful and fun! Make sure to take your bathing suit. You can stop anywhere along the road and swim in the ocean. You can't take your car to Bocas so you either rent a scooter bike or walk. Try it....it's a place worth visiting over and over again! We visit every year!
