Set in a fine Victorian, brick building, this collection is most certainly the high point of your trip to Pietermaritzburg. Housing one of the country's most important collections. The gallery's shell is the old Supreme Court of Natal, built in 1871. The gallery was housed here much later, becoming a permanent resident in 1990. A well-known gallery, it contains an impressive collection of South African art as well as Victorian, French and British collections. Upstairs you can find paintings by Degas, Miro, Renoir, Braque and Picasso.
