On my last trip to Bonn it was mid-August. Summertime is the nicest time to sit on the banks of the Rhine and watch the ships go by. Many passenger ships offer daily tours.On a clear day standing on the west bank one can see the famous Drachenfells in the distance to the south. A trip worth taking for a gorgeous hike. On my last trip to Bonn it was mid-August. Summertime is the nicest time to sit on the banks of the Rhine and watch the ships go by. Many passenger ships offer daily tours.On a clear day standing on the west bank one can see the famous Drachenfells in the distance to the south. A trip worth taking for a gorgeous hike. From the east bank you have a wonderful view of the city.Within the city the open air market in front of the Rathaus is most pleasing to the senses. The vendors offer a wide variety of fresh foods fish meats vegetables and flowers. Sitting a few floors above and overlooking the market you have a wonderful view of the city square. Strolling through the streets you get a sense of belonging. Stores and restaurants are plentiful and offer something for just about any taste and budget. The local people are very friendly and willing to help with most anything whether it be directions gift selections or menu choices.
