Being from the Branson area, alot of people know that it is expensive.  But if you have been to other tourist traps you know that it isn't as expensive as others.  But to go and see alot of musical entertainment you get your monies worth.
If you go to Hollywood you would be spending alot more money and not seeing as much as you do in Branson.  
Really Branson is a place for Older adults.  Not much for young ones.  The Museums of past and present are great.  Plus the restaurants and shopping venues are great.
You can go hikking, bicycling, be out on the water and fish or water ski.  You have more than just go to the Branson Landing.  
The only thing that you have to remember when you are in Branson is if you are on the main drag that it will take you a very long time to get thru.  If you schedule your visit right you will be able to save gas and get some exercise by just walking or riding a bicycle around town.  If you love to see history you have many towns around to visit and see alot of great sights.
