Branson, MO: When to Go and Weather
Weather: Branson weather, like that of other cities in the midwest, falls into four traditional seasons. Winter is relatively mild, with no real snow accumulation, and summer is hot and humid.
Summer: Branson weather is hot and humid in summer. The highs can climb into the 90s in July and August. Thunderstorms often give temporary respite from the intense heat. The average temperature is 80 degrees F and the average monthly rainfall is 4 inches.
Fall: Fall isn't as rainy as Branson's spring. September and October are usually excellent months to travel to the area, as the weather is sunny and comfortable most days. The average temperature is 58 degrees F and the average monthly rainfall is 3.6 inches.
Winter: Winter kicks off in December with light, intermittent snow showers and chilly temperatures. The lows never plunge too deeply, though, and rarely go into the teens or 20s except at night. The average temperature is 40 degrees F and the average monthly rainfall is 2.2 inches.
Spring: Spring is rainy but warm in Branson. By April, temperatures are already pushing into the 60s, and although rain showers are frequent, they're often followed by sunny periods. The average temperature is 62 degrees F and the average monthly rainfall is 4.8 inches.

When to Go: Peak Season
Branson is largely a family destination. Amusement parks, outdoor recreation areas from forests to lakes, golf courses, concert halls, and a picturesque downtown bring in large numbers during the summer months of June, July, and August. Temperatures can be sweltering during the day, but many families don't care: they're too busy swimming in the lakes or hiking on the shady wooded trails outside town. Branson hotels and RV parks see spikes in tourist business during this peak season, but the area isn't as popular as many summer destinations in the US, so travelers shouldn't have a hard time reserving accommodations.
When to Go: Off Season
Branson isn't much of a cold-weather destination. After the holiday rush in December, the off season months of January, February, and March see much fewer visitors to Branson because the hiking and swimming seasons are on hold. Still, the area's museums, restaurants, and various concert venues are open year round, fishing is a possibility, and hotel rates are a fraction of their full summer rate. You won't encounter crowds anywhere, so Branson is much more relaxed at this time, but without the plethora of outdoor activities, you may want to shorten your trip to a weekend instead of staying for a full week.
When to Go: Shoulder Season
Fall and spring, Branson's shoulder seasons, offer some of the best months to visit the area. Temperatures are comfortable, and although the lake water isn't usually warm enough for swimming, the hiking trails and golf courses are wonderfully appealing at this time when the summer heat and humidity has diminished and the area blooms with dogwoods, daffodils, and forsythia. Resorts and hotel rooms can be crowded on weekends, but travelers usually don't have as much trouble securing accommodations in the relaxed shoulder season. Usually, the weather is warm enough that visitors can dine outdoors and enjoy a stroll around Branson's downtown.
