Was there back in 1990 or so, before the country split into two. I was driving through one day on my way from Poland to Vienna when I made a left turn across a couple of lanes (noone was coming anyway). There was a cop standing on the sidewalk and saw me make the turn. He jumped off the sidewalk, pulled out a little stop sign, and held it up at me. Like an idiot< I stopped! We had Polish tags on the car and he commenced to read me the riot act (in Czech, of course). I played dumb, although I knew exactly what he was saying, and kept telling him that I did not understand. I kept telling him I was an American, which he did not believe until I whipped out my passport. His demeanor immediately changed, he was soooo nice, and explained that I "shouldn't" be changing lanes like that. I thanked him for his help and he sent me on my way.
