We spent the Christmas Holiday in Cabos in 1973. The beaches were beautiful the restaurants had fresh turtle soup and we went snorkling in water as clear as tap water.But you must stay alert to potential crime and dangerous situations because you will not get support from the police. I traveled with two of my g/friends enroute to Costa Rica for a week. We stopped in Cabo for 4 days. It turned out to be a huge mistake. We were hassled by the men there some of our clothing was stolen from our hotel room our purses were almost snatched in daylight more than a few times in town. The police did nothing even as the thief stood close by watching us. A group of men/teens followed us constantly sometimes bumping up against us. We were hassled by the men there some of our clothing was stolen from our hotel room our purses were almost snatched in daylight more than a few times in town. The police did nothing even as the thief stood close by watching us. A group of men/teens followed us constantly sometimes bumping up against us. We were harassed wherever we went the locals seemed to cheer them on. We were dressed modestly had to leave our watches jewelry in a hotel safe. Some of the beaches were dirty we got sick on the food and water despite being at a quasi-5 star hotel. A few mexican policemen watched as we tried to get into a cab when 4 men drunk jumped into the cab with us. We ended up in an argument defending ourselves while the police treated us like we were the criminals. Costa Rica on the Pacific coast was beautiful and fantastic we rented a suv and felt safe wherever we went the food and water was clean and safe it was an awesome adventure. The C.Rican police were fantastic as well as the locals. I can believe it now when other tourists said we need 'travel warnings' about mexico like we have for other dangerous nations. It is def. not a safe or clean place to vacation !! One mexican police officer told us not to ever travel alone in mexico and that girls were basically 'fair game'. Costa Rica had the finest service the locals were fantastic... and we felt safe everywhere.

Came to Cabo first in Sept. 93. Fell in love with the place by day 4. Have been coming top Cabo twice a year since then and the first of this year we moved here. Hoping to make it permanent. Sights are fantastic. The weather great. We have seen the results of hurricanes but everything seems to be back in bloom within a couple of months. AND THE PEOPLE ARE TERRIFIC. I do not look like a staving person and am too over 200 lbs. Out of the bluejust offered to share their picnic with a gringo. Of coursde I accepted and offered some of my own snacks in return.Then there are the H.O.G.s (Harley Owners Group) just finished a huge one day Bike Wash for the benefit of the Cruz Roja Mexicana (Mexican Red Cross) great turn out generous support from turists and residents alike.

Went to Cabo on a whim December 2006. It was the best vacation I have been on. Plenty to do and see. Safe and no car is necessary because everything is within walking distance. Try the night life at El Squid Row. Lots of fun and spent 4 out of 6 nights there. The tequila pours readily so don't do anything there your stomach can't handle. Avoid the jello shots at this place because they shove them down your throat and they are $5 dollar a pop. Have fun its worth it.... More
