Just say "shokran shokran"

Many tourists complain about being swamped by the street vendors. If you say "NO"...they know you're a tourist and they continue to try to sell you things. However, if you say "Shokran shokran" they think you are Egypt savvy and they leave you alone. I love Egypt, and i worked there in 1995 and visited there several other times. A little arabic goes a long way in Egypt.

Some things never change

I went to Cairo 24 years ago, went to the Pyramids, Museum, etc. I went back 2 weeks ago for business. Trust me when I say "Nothing has changed." The pyramids haven't changed in 5,000 years. cairo is still the dirtiest, filthiest, place I have ever been to. The people around the pyramids will not leave you alone. If you do go, take a tour with a guide from the hotel and avoid all the rip off artists at the pyramids and the museum. Don't let anyone touch your luggage at the airport or you will b

Cairo March 07

3 women we had our own tour guide and driver of whom made this trip a life time dream we were taken care of esp hotel had to know at all times where we were going and with whom the people the history and food are worth a trip back Cairo museum 1 of a kind and we had great camel drivers with view of the the 3 pyramids at Gizza. We felt extremely safe nxt trip Nile cruise and upper egypt cannt wait

It's Not Safe !!

In 1996 I visited Cairo with a group of approx 900 off of our cruise ship. Two of us women were kidnapped while taking a camel ride! I managed to fight and get away and run back to the group but have never ever forgot the horror in this incident. We had plenty of guards on horses for protection also but they sneak you off trying to make you look like your just going for a tourist camel ride. Also a man on our ship during the same time was kidnapped, robbed and almost beaten to death and left in

Egypt and Cairo are the best place I have ever been. The people were friendly; the history unbelievable; and the sights beautiful. It is hot however.
