Our experience in Cairo was wonderful. Everywhere we went in the city the people were friendly and helpful. They were especially happy to hear that we were Americans. Of course the street venders are obnoxious at times, but that is part of the Middle Eastern experience. If you can't deal with it, then go to Europe or stay in the US. We stayed at the Cairo/Zamalek Sheraton which was once a palace and is located on the Nile. The rooms were gorgeous, the price was great-$99.00 a night, and the staff couldn't do enough for us. We traveled to Aswan by plane and found the people and the culture there to be fascinating. While in Luxor the Egyptologist who was our tour guide nvited us to his home to meet his family and have dinner. He then took us to our train and made sure we were settled and that the conductor would take care of us. He expected nothing in return for his hospitality and would take no extra money even when it was offered. My husband and I are planning another trip to Egypt this summer and can't wait to go. I
