We traveled to Churchill in October of 2005. We spent three days at the Tundra Inn. Churchill is an extremely small town. The accommodations are very modest but clean. The best place to eat in town is Gypsy’s Bakery & Restaurant. I would go back to Churchill just to eat a Gypsy's! We spent two days out on the Tundra Buggies. Picture an extra wide bus on a fire truck chasse. These are large vehicles with huge tires that put you up above the bears. You are driven in your Tundra Buggy out ... More

Picture an extra wide bus on a fire truck chasse. These are large vehicles with huge tires that put you up above the bears. You are driven in your Tundra Buggy out into the tundra to watch the polar bears. We were not disappointed! The come right up to the buggies. At night we walked to the edge of town (you are not permitted to go beyond the town limit because of the bears) to watch the Northern Lights. They are amazing. I would go back to Churchill it was a great experience.

I went on a tour with Travel Wild to see the polar bears in Churchill. It was a dream vacation and it met all expectations. The bears are absolutely wonderful in person. The tour was small and we had our expert with us to explain the bear behavior to us. We spent three nights on the tundra at Hudson Bay. I went to sleep one night with a bear outside my porthole and the northern lights were dancing. We spent the rest of the trip in Churchill at night but went out in the tundra buggies during the ... I have a wonderful photo album that I look at every so often to relive that trip.

We went to Churchill in October a few years ago. We went as far as we could go in our motor home then the remainder of the trip by train. The train was a \whistle stop\ operation and stopped whenever someone along the way needed a ride or supplies. Although the train trip was very interesting it was very long and I would recomment flying. The train was a \whistle stop\ operation and stopped whenever someone along the way needed a ride or supplies. Although the train trip was very interesting it was very long and I would recomment flying. Churchill is a small community but a major grain shipping location for Canadians shipping through Hudson Bay to the Atlantic. Our hotel was nice and the local food delicious. The drive in the tundra on the three days were there was exciting and we saw numerous polar bear artic fox rabbitsand interesting birds. Visited the \polar bear jail\ and saw a bear relocatied by helicopter from the jail site. It was a memorable trip and the weather was surprisingy mild for that time of the year.
