Beaches of Cancun, Mexico
There is no question as to why the Mayan people made their home on the Yucatan Peninsula and surrounding regions. For thousands of years this region has been inhabited, and to this day it is still coveted by many of its visitors, bringing them back again, and again. For nearly 40 years now, a small city on the eastern most tip of the peninsula in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo has attracted millions of visitors, and quite possibly every college student who has attended an American university. It is the gorgeous resort city of Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

Regardless, proprietors will continue to work to repair their invaluable source of revenue, offering discounted rates to visitors in an effort to draw more people to the affected region.

Great hotel in the Zone and easy walking. Beaches are not back but you can still swim and hang. Stayed at CasaMagna because of very low rate but definitely 4+ stars especially the breakfast buffet. Be careful driving - we were pulled over by a policeman and not speeding so no idea why. He could tell me it was a $500US ticket but he would take $100....we settled for 100 pesos rather than spend our day. Not a great feeling for the day at Tulum. We will avoid Playa del Carmen and head to Merida from now on. Yucatan is the ultimate eco experience once away from Riviera Maya.
