Cape Cod is cool. I grew up there. It's like another world on the Cape - the winding roads through the quait small villages. In the summer the population explodes exponentially and in the winter it can seem like a ghostscape especially on a dark day.The Cape Cod natives would just as well you stay home and leave their little world alone but tourist income during the peak months keep them going during the long off-season.The crown jewel of Cape Cod IMHO is Provincetown or \P-Town.\ Walking Comm... It is one street where pedestrians truly have the right of way. I think of Commerclal St as the original \strip mall\ because you'll find so many quaint and out-of-the-way shoppes and eating establishments. (You gotta try the Fried Ipswitch Clams!!!)But also know that Provincetown is one of the Gay Meccas of the North America. Many establishments especially motels and guesthouses cater to gay preferences although you will not be mistreated shunned or denied service anywhere just be ready to see two people of the same sex embraced in a passionate kiss right in the middle of the street. If you're all about \traditional family values\ you may consider another destination.

The Cape and Islands are a great place to visit in the summer. Not only is the weather perfect but they have some amazing beaches and restaurants with a very unique feel and warmth to them. Surprisingly the best spot I found is off the cape in Onset where there is a giant beach salt water taffy some amazing little restaurants some cultural events great hotels. Definitely a great place to visit during the dog days of summer!... More
