A different country/ A different world 
Visited Caracas many years ago. Had tour bus stoned and hit with water balloons,were told "Yankee go Home" and treated very poorly.City was dirty, crowded, and uninviting.Our tour hosts husband was supposedly an astrophysist (why would she have to work a tour bus) and could only tell us how superior their lifestyle was to ours and how great their President was.
The only good thing was a tour to the ICET murano glass factory up in the mountians.
Who would I recommend going there?  No one that feels uneasy having jeep loads of soldiers with mounted machine guns,steel helmets and assault rifles guarding your busses in the parking lot while you have lunch in the hotel. Go to Curacao or Aruba instead.
