WONDERFUL !!! CHARLESTON,

HAD A WONDERFULL CAMPING TRIP IN CHARLESTON, JUST LAST WEEK. A HOME AND WINE TOUR TO BOOT.!! WHAT CHARM THE OLD CITY HAS. DOWN ON BATTERY, OVER TO FT. SUMTTER AND SO ON. RAIN BOW ROW WAS A REAL DELIGHT. DON'T FORGET SHOPPING IN THE CITY MARKET. WE BREAKFAST IN CAMP AND DINNER OUT EACH NIGHT. THE CITY LIGHTS ARE TO DIE FOR. WELL MUST GO AGAIN REAL SOON.

Wonderful

My husband & I was there for Christmas two years ago. Enjoyed it immensley. So much history, beautiful old homes. Why people travel to Europe and miss the wonderful things in our own country irritates me.

LOVE Charleston

I've been several times and plan to return several times. The charm of the downtown area, the relaxation on the beaches, the shops and hospitality can't be beat. The city has fabulous homes with so much history behind them and is just a remarkable place. It's just a fascinating place to visit overall... HIGHLY recommend a vacation there.

Visit the Surrounding Area

If you have a car, or rent a car, while in Charleston, I can recommend the following places that are nearby to visit, as well as a couple of "cheap and cheerful" restaurants. Most of them are an easy drive from downtown, and in my experience, have added to my enjoyment of Charleston.
Food:
1. Melvyn's Barbecue (there's one on James Island and one in Mt. Pleasant, both a five minute drive from downtown). Have the pulled pork sandwich! Try the cole slaw.

Charleston is truly an exceptional city. No where else in the world will one find such an intriguing combination of history, architecture, natural beauty, and firendly people. It is no wonder that Charleston is consistently ranked among the top cities in the United States by such travel magazines as Conde Nast and Taravel & Leisure.
