Charleston is truly an exceptional city. No where else in the world will one find such an intriguing combination of history, architecture, natural beauty, and firendly people. I would have to say of your looking for a nice friendly city with the southern heritage and charm not to mention the great restaurants, shops and absolutely beautiful kept history. You want find another city that can compare to the well kept history of the 1800's. I go every year and be sure stay in the downtown district. You can walk to anywhere and fell 100% safe.
