Cheyenne is a ton of fun year round. The last full week of July is Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo the daddy of them all. Be prepared to pay triple for a room IF you can find a room. It is not unusual for people tolodge over 100 miles away at night during CFD. There is a big parade and FREE pancake breakfasts during CFD. Lots of other stuff besides the rodeo; carnival midway Indian village with speakers dancers and singers great shopping there and in the midway. Cheyenne has a great eclectic mix of shops and restaurants in a downtown they are gradually upgrading. Authentic cowboy/old west culture prevails for the most part. The guys you see dressed as cowboys in a bar are most likely real working cowboys. Terry Buffalo ranch is nearby for the kids they also offer buffalo hunts for the adults. The locals are super friendly and it is a straight shot up I-25 from Denver. At the park where the rodeo is a great museum of the west and art gallery.
