Christiansted National Historic Site, run by the National Park Service, is the town's heart. Spread out along the waterfront, the main features are Fort Christianvaern, the Scale House and the Steeple Building. Pick up a map for your self-guided tour at the Fort Christianvaern visitor's center. The buildings date as far back as the late 1700s and reflect the time when Christiansted served as the centerpiece of the island's agrarian economy. Children under 16 free. No credit cards are accepted.
