Beautiful Country but beware of jewelry deals. I purchased "natural tanzanite & diamond ring in white gold". The appraisal revealed it to be sterling silver, CZ, and lab created tanzanite. Remember, free tequila is to lower your defenses and don't purchase as the ship is leaving. Purchase your jewelry aboard ship as Carnival guarantees the value of their jewelry and allows you to return it for up to one year. My advise is to take the tours and purchase your jewelry from local jewelry stores at home.

MY Sister and I went to Cozemel with Carnival and we had a very good time, especially at Senior Froggies, go there for great food and lots of fun. We shopped for jewelry especially Tanzanite and we bought a lot of it at cheaper prices but still expensive and we did ask if it was mined not man made, and 2 places said yes they were a mined stone . T o cut to the chase here we got home and had them appraised at 80.00 each piece and to find they were all fake and was not worth the appraisal fees..........so be careful with there jewlery you might get stung like we did.

We go every year, rent a jeep and drive the Island coast and town from shops to bars ,to pubs, to restaurants,to ruins, etc, etc . The people go out of their way to be helpful and friendly - they are the most proud and loving people we have ever met. Go - you will love it too! We will be there again this year - in just 3 days - can't wait.

Cozumel is amazing, i loved it so much, and if you want to leave the island, you can take a ferri to playa del carmen which is good. Shopping is great except some venders get alittle in your face, but if you take that out its fabulous.
