I truly regret, not having crossed the border into Syria

My son, and I were vacationing in Jordan, and we had lunch at a restaurant very close to the border of Syria. Our driver suggested taking us to Damascus. However, I'd already extended our vacation once to see more of Jordan, and decided against it. I've been mad at myself ever since, and know that I'll never get the opportunity again.. ... The whole world should make more efforts in saving the Old City

The world have been too busy worrying about politics and forgetting about a city that actually summarizes a big part of the world's history since the beginning of the civilizations! More efforts, awareness and money should come to save this amazing maze of treasures. Although a lot of the old houses in Damascus are being transformed into restaurants, bars and sometime small boutique hotels.
