Dresden, Germany, is in the eastern part of the country, not far from the Czech Republic and Poland. The city was settled in approximately 600 B.C.
Many of the attractions in Dresden can be found in the Old Town section of the city. The historic buildings in Dresden that survived World War II are the most popular tourist attractions. Many buildings in Old Town are being restored, the Semper Opera House was destroyed in 1945, but now is elegantly restored, Zwinger Palace is another historic building that is home to several museums.
One of the Dresden hotels that were rebuilt from the ground up is the Kempinski Hotel Taschenbergpalais, located in-between the Semper Opera House, the Church of Our Lady, and the Residential Castle, the Kempenski is an example of baroque architecture and d�cor.
