Loved the castle; the Mary King's Close tour was awesome! Walking up and down the Royal Mile was interesting. I loved the outdoor vendors who set up on the sidewalks - got some beautiful jewelry that was very reasonable (hard to think of a deal for Americans whose exchange rate hurts!) We also went on a ghost tour that was fun. For a big city, the people were so friendly. Can't wait to go back. May be my favorite city in the whole world.

Edinburgh will always rank as the most memorable!

Stay in a Bed&Breakfast the owners become like family in most cases. Try The Crammond Inn, fantastic food and a great walk along the River Almond. The Royal Mile takes several days and a couple of memory chips for the camera to do it right. Stay out of the cheap suvie joints but go to Geoffry Highland Crafts at the very top of the mile next to the C

We've been there many times and never tire of it. Unfortunately, the US dollar doesn't go very far so it is a bit expensive; but not too expensive for us Scotch drinkers. You haven't celebrated New Year's Eve until you've been to Hogmanay (look it up). We've done it twice. What a party!
