The main collection of this museum is paleontological, in other words fossils of prehistoric animals, all donated by Rodrigo Botet in 1889. It is Europe's most important collection of South American fossils. Among the pieces, is the complete and only skeleton of the Megathere. The remainder of the halls are dedicated to Valencia's contribution to the natural sciences, from the Renaissance to the present: the story of life, descriptions of the Valencian ecosystem and malacology-the study of molluscs.
