Rome

It is hard to describe Rome in a few words. Rome is a city so vast and rich in art, historic ruins, monuments and exquisite views, that words can hardly do it justice. Rome’s deep history mixes with its cosmopolitan surface on every corner. This former capital of the Roman Empire has preserved its charm and independence throughout the centuries.

Rome's history can be read in every monument and palazzo; in fact, each and every stone bears witness to the periods of splendor, decay, wars, and numerous architectural styles. The city could be described as a gigantic open-air museum, visited each year by millions of tourists, scholars and pilgrims from all over the world. Just as Rome was not built in a day, the many fascinating destinations within the city walls mean that all of Rome cannot be seen in a day either.

It is hard to believe that Roman civilization began with a small settlement of shepherds and farmers near the Tiber River on Palatino, (one of the seven hills on which Rome was built and where many of the Roman archaeological treasures were found). It is said that this is where... more

Everything was perfect. We flew into Fiumicino Airport and were picked up by a courteous driver from a company called Tiber Limo (which was recommended to us by a friend). We spent a week in Rome seeing the sites. The weather was great, and it was surprisingly inexpensive for our entire family to engage in different activities and tours.

All in all, this was a very affordable and enjoyable trip. We'd do it again in a heart beat. Traveling overseas may seem like the more expensive option in these times, but things were affordably priced, from our airfare to our in-city transportation to our lodging.

If you're considering traveling to Rome any time soon, June was a great time to fly (prices were some of the lowest we've seen). Our scheduled pick-ups with Tiber Limo worked perfectly. We appreciated the on time pick up at the airport, and the timely and friendly pick up at our hotel in Rome to depart. Everything was perfect. And the food and wines were some of the best we've tasted. I highly recommend this as a summer vacation destination.

A few others and I took a cruise on Royal Carribean to Italy. We arranged to have Tiber Limo, a Rome tour and car hire service, pick us up at Civitavecchia seaport. They took any worry at all out of our minds on making a flight or a ship on a very tight schedule. Much cheaper than a cab or the cruise ship transportation.

Rome and Venice were beautiful, and not so crowded that we couldn't have our meetings and enjoy ourselves. For those considering traveling in August, it was a very pleasant experience. Just keep in mind that we stayed within the Rome and Venice areas, which did not have any business closures while we were there. We traveled for both business and pleasure and it was smooth from beginning to end.

My husband and I along with our 3 kids...ages 20, 24 and 25 had recently visited Rome for the 2nd time. The first time was on a cruise (stopped there for the day) and we did the fast tour of everything we could in 1 day. This time we were going to be there for 3 days and wanted to see certain things without repeating too much of what we already did. We wanted to do something private and not with a big group, so I started to research. I came across this GREAT tour group called Italy HotLine Private Tours. Sienna Reid was an absolute pleasure to deal with. We communicated through e-mail and I ended up booking a few different tours with her. One of the best things, besides being very professional, sweet and courteous, was that she was not pushy. Although they did have a few set tours to choose from, she totally customized everything we wanted to do. The tour guide Annie was a sweetheart. She was so friendly and very knowledgable and really felt us all out and immediatly picked up on the things that were important to us and the things that were not so important!! She was extremely flexible and even changed some things for us as we went along. We saw so much more with Annie than we ever would have on our own...and at our own pace. She even gave us suggestions of places to go after our tours were over. After our stay in Rome, we were heading up to Tuscany to meet some more family members. Sienna arranged for us to have a tour guide drive us there. Amir was just wonderful (and hilarious!) and stopped at a few beautiful sites on the way. He even knew a great little local hide away place where we stopped for lunch. I would highly highly highly! recommend and would definitly use Italy Hotline tours again in the future if we are lucky enough to return to Italy. We were there for 11 days, and our tours in Rome were without a doubt the highlight of our trip...thanks to Sienna, Annie and Amir!
