I cant imagine WHY a former review called this a tourist trap! It is a beautiful historic place! The view from the top is magnificent. To kiss the Blarney Stone is fun and something to share with others for the rest of your life! It IS a beautiful ruin of a great historical castle!... More

In 1995 I chaperoned the local high school band on our trip to Ireland. The scenery was breathtaking the people very friendly but the food was terrible. The kids nearly starved before I could find a McDonald's on Day 5. The best thing about Ireland was it is at the opposite end of the spectrum from the US. No crime no violence no welfare no illegitimacy no unemployment no frills no millionaires no millionaire-wanna-be's. They lead very simple honest hard-working lives. On the way to the airport for departure we collected our spare change (no good in the US) and gave it to our bus driver. He cried saying it would send his daughter to college for a year. If you want to visit a beautiful relaxing historic place and don't want to worry about being a victim go to Ireland. Absolutely wonderful trip (except for the food).
