Saint Agueda is the patron saint of Guam. There is even a fort named after her. She is particularly worshiped by married women and those women who are breast feeding their babies. Legend has it that Saint Agueda was a martyr and during her final days she had to undergo all kinds of torture and her breasts were removed. Every year on Feb 5, the married women in Guam dress up in beautiful gowns and farm clothes and take part in a procession to honor their beloved saint. This ancient festival ends with a traditional wheel dance and banquet, where the only male present is the priest.
