Florence is beautiful, but we enjoy Rome much more. Although, the hill towns and country side, of Tuscany, surrounding Florence is enough to make you want to move to Italy.

Several years ago my fiance and his sister and husband rented a villa in Tuscany. Words can never describe the beauty of this area in Italy. Our villa had some modern conveniences; we could see the cathedral in Sienna from our kitchen window and the villa was surrounded with olive trees. I have been to Tuscany over 50 times and I have not seen it all! Florence is the most beautiful city. The architecture, museums, restaurants, and shopping are unbelieveable. Within an hours drive of Florence are Pisa, Siena, Greve, Vinci, San Gimignano and the beautiful chiati coutryside. I suggest you stay in a villa in the wine country and day trip into Florence. We used www.tuscanyvillas and stayed at an incredible villa.

I went as a chaperone for a high school trip. The shopping for leather (shoes, purses etc) was great but I found the city to be dirty. The museums are amazing, but the best thing was a side trip to Pisa. That is the most amazing thing. But of all of Europe, I found Venice to be one city I would go back to effective today.
