Folly Beach, South Carolina Reviews and Ratings

I have been going to Folly Beach for many years. I love the Marina at the end of the island it has BEAUTIFUL sunsets that you can enjoy with a drink or dinner. Music on the patio facing the water is common on the weekends and sometimes the dolphins come for a swim. Also the beach itself is great with lots of different places to eat with different types of fare. Planet Follywood has a great Rueben and at times live music on the weekends. There's a Blues ba4r on the corner of the main street so you cna hear the music at night as you walk from place to place. I agree it's kind of 'hippie ish' but I love that about it. People are very friendly and welcoming. I haven't been in a couple of years but am heading there at 4am Friday May 222009. Next week I can't wait to see friends and family that I've missed. I also highly recommend the para-sailing over Charleston Harbor.

Do not stay at the Front Beach Inn on Artic Avenue. If you call the owner makes it sound wonderful safe and cheap. It is nothing like it is portrayed. It is a DUMP. We paid for 1 week and left early because our shower never worked no attempt was made to fix it (it had no shower head). The police came while we were there and broke down the door of the adjoining room because of a drug overdose - this is not a place to stay with your family. We wish we had adhered to the old adage "If it sounds too good to be true it probably is!"

Folly Beach is a super place to vacation....laid back easy going atmosphere....great beach..beautiful sunrises....We try to make it every year with our three children and sometimes bring the whole family (grandparents sister and her family etc.) We stay at Charleston Ocean Front Villas right on the beach near the Holiday Inn. Just a blast--Charleston has many interesting sights and it's easy to find your way around. We've taken road trips into NC into the mountains near Ashville--can't say enough about the area!

I am born & raised in the Charleston area work on Folly Beach at Carolina One. Love it this is our little Mayberry by the Sea. You must come and see for yourself all that there is to do on Folly Beach you won't be disappointed.
