This beach falls into the daytime entry zone because of its proximity to the volcano, so check whether visits are allowed. The site of a former bird sanctuary, the vegetation has been ravaged by the combined effects of volcanic gas and ash and hurricanes, leaving the trees stripped bare. The birds (like the humans) have long relocated to areas further north. Before the volcano this was also an upcoming residential area. If this zone is closed at the time of your visit it's important to respect this.
