1.Aran Islands -- just off Galway Bay
The Aran Islands seem to have kept more of Old Ireland than anywhere else I visited. Galway was interesting, Dublin impossible. Connemora region outstanding landscapes. But nothing compares to the Aran Islands. 11th Century stone forts, incredible seaside cliffs, fishing and lobster ports. Friendly people. I went in October -- far less "touristy." Gaeltacht -- Irish speakers. A pleasure just to hear the language. Fine pubs and music. Can't say enough good. Only bad -- driving on the l... More

4.SO proud to be Irish!!! Sue from Indiana
My husband and I have traveled to Ireland two times and are so happy we did! The Irish people are such lovely, giving, thoughtful and caring people you would ever want to meet. My great grandfather left Ireland with his 3 children during the pototo fantom and came to America. He left on what they called the coffin ships because so many died at sea including one of his twin daughters. We have true Irish friends who live in New Ross and also a very dear friend in Clifton who we got to see and ... More

My great grandfather left Ireland with his 3 children during the pototo fantom and came to America. He left on what they called the coffin ships because so many died at sea including one of his twin daughters. We have true Irish friends who live in New Ross and also a very dear friend in Clifton who we got to see and stay with for a few weeks. I would gtive anything to return and see more of Ireland. We just loved driving on the wrong side of the road, pretty tricky and quite the challenge but I did it! We drove down all of the back roads, Ring of Kerry and the Cliffs of Moore and many other places. I am so proud to say I am 99% Irish and love being Irish. If you have never been to Ireland I would highly reccommend you going, you won't regret one minute of your trip and you will definitely want to return. Sue of Indiana
