Gettysburg, Pennsylvania Reviews and Ratings

I did like the layout where you can drive the road tour.. I did have to say though that the actual museum was very long, we did not even complete it, got very tiring. But over all for the history buff it is worth the trip.

I went to visit Gettysburg in May of 2004 with a girlfriend who lives in Maryland. We stayed at a 200 year old hotel called the James Getty Hotel. Very nice, very atmospheric. The town is charming, interesting shops and restaurants. May was a good time to go there, as it wasn't inundated by tourists yet, but the weather was warm and sunny. The park and its monuments were very well marked and moving. It is open until 10PM. The interpretive center has recently been remodeled, I hear, and is even better than it was during my visit. My friend and I went out to the park after it started getting dark, and I don't know that I'd do that again. It is a very creepy place after dark, and we kept seeing inexplicable bluish and yellowish lights on the battlefields that were't there when we went up to investigate. All in all, a very intersting historical destination
