I had the pleasure of staying in a delightful B & B with David Perrie in Barrhead... a quick hop by train from Glasgow and just an hour from Edinburgh. Friends from Florida were well cared for when they stayed with him for 3 days and then a friend from Virgingia traveled up from London by bus was picked up by Mr. Perrie and fed home cooked Scottish foods toured all over to places of interest and taken back to the bus a week later for the return to London and then home to Virginia where she... Glasgow is often overlooked in favour of Edinburgh which is really unfortunate as Glasgow has so much more to offer.Incredible architecture throughout the city - if you are not familar with Charles Rennie McIntosh before your trip I suggest you read up on him a bit and keep an eye out for his influence throughout the city when you visit. The interior of the Glasgow City Hall is absolutely incredible and totally unexpected compared to the exterior. The University is beautiful and offers a super museum as well. Also not to be missed - Kelvingrove Museum now open after being closed for total refurbishment.Shopping was great - I had to buy another piece of luggage to get everything back home. Food was better than expected- and with a range of haggis to fish and chips to all sorts of International cuisine there is a great variety to choose from.Glasgow does have somewhat of a reputation as being 'dangerous' - but that is true of any big city. Anyone traveling needs to keep their wits about them and be aware of their surroundings don't flash your cash and be mindful of where you wander especially after dark - that is just as true for Glasgow as any other city.I hope to have an opportunity to return soon.
